Leave You a Piece of Me by Jordan Bell, Dani Bell
The song is about leaving someone you love, and the guilt that comes with that.
It’s the feeling of knowing you can’t give all of yourself, but searching for something to leave behind. It’s hard when you care so deeply for someone, but at the same time know that you can’t give them the best parts of you- and that’s what this song is about.
Music Genre: folk-pop
From: Victoria BC, but born in Rossland BC
How do you think this release represents your current direction?
This album was really important for me in terms of getting back to my roots, and being fully authentic in the overall sound. I’ve released a few experimental albums before “All My Friends”, but this was the first time I felt 100% about every song.
The melodies are simple, the songwriting is very, very honest, and I talked about things from love (Freckles, Patience), friendship, growing up (Changes), and even one song about a really painful experience I went through with a close friend (A).
The direction I’m heading with my music is always changing stylistically, but honesty and simplicity are things that I very much appreciate.
